All items are designed and machine-pieced, quilted (machine and/or hand) and assembled by me in my home studio.
My fabrics come from various places – vintage indigos from antique fairs, second hand cotton, linens and forgotten quilt tops from thrift stores. I use Kona solids from Robert Kaufman and Cloud 9, and premium quilt prints, when used were from Cotton + Steel. Batting is made in the US and I use cotton and wool when requested. I mainly use sashiko thread when hand quilting, but have also used crochet thread and pearl cotton.
A lot of my fabrics are old/worn such as the vintage African indigos and the thrifted fabrics. But that is part of what draws me to use these textiles. They will get a visible mend for that Boro aesthetic that I love so much, and makes each piece unique.
I wash all fabrics prior to construction of quilts and other items. In doing this, I hope to limit shrinkage and color bleed. Machine-quilted Quilts can be washed by machine in cold water and machine dried on the low setting. Please hand wash instead if your washing machine has an agitator, as this can tear your quilt. Please use a mild detergent. If air drying, please lay flat. Quilt will crinkle slightly.
Due to the delicate nature of hand-quilted quilts, it is advised to hand wash with mild detergent in cool water.
I stand by my work, but please let me know if there are any problems with your quilt. I would be happy to make any repairs for a small fee + shipping.
I love commissions and am always open to creating a custom piece for you. Please email email@example.com to start a conversation.
